Operated by Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, Orlando International Airport is located 6.5 miles southeast of Orlando. The airport’s main runway is 3,659 metres in length and has a surface that is paved.
Orlando International Airport is a very popular one, with more than 80,000 passengers travelling through it daily. The airport is the busiest in Florida with over 80 different airlines with scheduled services covering around 70 different American cities as well as approximately 30 international ones. The terminal building, with it’s modern design, has a passenger shuttle service within it that links the different airside terminals together as well as covering each of the three levels within the main building.
Orlando Airport also has a wide variety of shops and services, with half a dozen different bars 20 places to eat and a whole host of different stores. Around the airport there are also currency exchange sites, internet access kiosks and of course the duty-free shop. Travellers with disabilities are well catered for too, and there are excellent parking and transport facilities.
Location and Driving There
Orlando International Airport is located approximately 6.5 miles southeast of downtown Orlando, situated at the junction of State Road 436, which is called Semoran Boulevard and State Road 528 known as Beeline Expressway.
Getting to the Airport from the North
Go on I-4 west to State Road 408, the East-West Expressway, in downtown Orlando then follow State Road 408 east to State Road 436, Semoran Boulevard. From there simply follow the road south to the airport.
Getting to the Airport from the East
Come in on I-95 to State Road 528, known as the Beeline Expressway, close to Cape Canaveral. Follow the road straight in to the airport, coming off at exit 11B.
Getting to the Airport from the South or the West
Take the I-4 east to State Road 528, the Beeline Expressway, close to International Drive and SeaWorld and then just follow the road in, exiting at 11B to get straight into the airport itself.
